"Pat in Love" wasn't the first episode written about a Sumwhere character falling in love. In 2006, I wrote a pretty crappy episode with the name "Colin in Love(?)" in which Colin tries to impress a girl and ultimately ends up with her.
After that, in 2009, Harrison and I wrote an only slightly less crappy version of that story, this time with Pat in the lovelorn position. We creatively named it "Pat in Love." After seeing its potential, we decided that we really wanted to do this story, but we wanted it to be done well. So, in 2010, we broke out the big guns, and Patrick and I rewrote the story yet again into its final version, named (surprise!) "Pat in Love." I hope this has been enlightening.
